F-gases and ODS in firefighting and fire protection equipment
The following fluorinated gases (F-gases) are used in firefighting and fire protection equipment:
Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) – HFC 23, HFC 125, HFC 227ea, HFC 236fa (Trade names: FE-13, FE-25, E, NAF-125, FM-200, FE-227, FE-36)
The use of Perflurocarbons (PFCs) and Halons in fire-fighting equipment has been phased-out, except for military and aviation uses. You must not use or keep any fire fighting equipment that contains Halons.
What you must do - ODS
If you have any firefighting equipment that contains Halons you must dispose of it as hazardous or special waste at a licensed facility. FlameSkill are a licensed facility.
If you have fire protection systems that contain ozone-depleting substances (ODS) they must be decommissioned by suitably trained personnel when you replace or remove them.
